Dr. Klein, a clinical psychologist and combat trauma                             specialist, created and led a 7-day healing retreat in                             July of 2025 for combat veterans struggling with the                             legacy of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The                             program was jointly sponsored by Freedom Alliance                             (a veteran-centric NFP organization) and the owners                             of the beautiful 500-acre Fish Creek Ranch in the                             mountains outside of Missoula, Montana. Dr. Klein                             based his healing program on the works of his mentor, Dr. Edward Tick (author, poet, international educator and psychotherapist) who developed a model for warrior emotional and spiritual restoration based on a cross-cultural model of healing from the wounds of war. The 10-session group program focuses on forming a supportive community of both warriors and civilians and leads them through the experiential healing process of Dr. Tick’s model. Topics include the warrior ethos, the impact of battle on emotional functioning, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Moral Injury, and how one shares their war experiences in the safety of a supportive community to heal. Interlaced with group sessions are recreational activities of white-water rafting, horsemanship and fishing adventures in the natural wonder of the scenic mountains and wildlife of Montana.

Dr. Judy Tindall recently attended the HIMS (Human Intervention Motional Study) Advanced Topics Seminar in Louisville, Ky. April 9 and 10. There were in attendance Pilots ( HIMS volunteers, Chief pilots), Aeromedical Medical Examiners, Psychiatrists, Psychologist/Neuropsychologist, Airline Management personnel, FAA staff and speakers. The conference was about how to work with pilots that have substance abuse issues and the process to assist them in leading a healthier lifestyle and staying healthy for their aviation career.

Dr. Judy Tindall and Dr. Linda Sharp Taylor attended the Federal Aviation administration "1st Annual Aerospace Behavioral Health Seminar" for psychologists and psychiatrists in San Diego, CA.

A Veteran's Toughest Fight: Finding Peace After Vietnam – released August 22, 2024
by David T. Klein (Author); Published by McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers

They survived the insanity of the Vietnam War by telling themselves, "It don't mean nuthin'." But it did. This collection of nonfiction short works tells the story of how war damages our soldiers, and then pulls back the curtain of trauma treatment to offer a rare glimpse of how these veterans strive to integrate those combat experiences and to recover. Though intimately revealing the human shadow and darkness of war, this is a hopeful book: it is about transformation, restoring meaning and connection, and navigating the archetypal hero's journey as survivors come home from war. It seeks to unite our warriors and civilian public together in learning and healing. Their stories are this liminal bridge.
This narrative arose from the psychotherapeutic process of treating our nation's combat veterans for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. But this book is also about the author's own self-discovery, tracing his evolution as a clinical psychologist and combat trauma specialist dedicated to working with Vietnam veterans. The author serves as a therapist, narrator, advocate, keeper of veterans' sacred "dark" wisdom, and fellow traveler.
